Our Pastor

Rev. Brian K Johnson

Galatians 6:9 “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up” (NLT).

I love God’s timing; He always gets it right! Jenny (my wife of over 31 years) and I, met on a blind date; not knowing then, how God would weave his creative handiwork into our lives; something he continues to this day. We were married in 1985, and blessed with two now grown children; Thomas and Melissa. We spent the early portion of our lives together, raising our family in the rural community of Freeland. We found this location a wonderful place to sink our roots, while remaining near to both our families. We quickly discovered our shared gift of music and began singing together, allowing God to use us to promote our love for Jesus. We both discovered a passion for teaching young people about God’s love, and he in-turn gave us the amazing blessing of ten years working with youth at Freeland United Methodist Church. Together we continued to grow in faith, to trust in God’s leading, committing to follow Him wherever he would lead us. In 2011, after a long career as a business owner and managing a local retail store, I answered the call to pastoral ministry and became a licensed local pastor in the United Methodist Church. I was granted my first appointment in January of 2013, and we moved to a rural farming community in the Thumb of Michigan. After spending a short 3 ½ years in ministry with the people of Bay Port and Hayes United Methodist Churches, I answered a call for an opportunity to move on, and become the pastor of Ortonville United Methodist Church. Here, we continue to see blessing in God’s timing by the warm welcome and wonderful people we have already come to know and have had opportunity to serve alongside. With humble anticipation we are looking forward to what God has planned next for us, together with this vibrant and growing body of believers. We wouldn’t be here if it were not for the support of friends and family who have prayed for and encouraged us each step of the way. We continue to trust Him on the journey, teaching others to do the same, by faith. We know that “His ways are higher than our own,” and we do our best to listen, because he always gets it right! Ortonville United Methodist Church has many dedicated followers of Christ, who do their best to love, look, and live like Jesus to the world. We hope that new families will continue to find this church community a welcoming place to worship, come to faith, learn, and grow together as the body of Christ.

Together we are Shaping Lives, Sharing Faith and Spreading God's Love
